Marshall Bartlett became chief investment officer of Independence Trust in 2014 having joined Independence Trust Company in 2005. In this role he oversees portfolio management, trading, and other investment functions for the firm's clients. This includes serving as lead manager for the firm's dividend growth portfolio. Marshall also serves as president and treasurer of Independence Holding Corporation.
Prior to joining Independence Trust Company, Marshall was a service manager for Aspect Communications, responsible for maintaining the company’s premier client relationships and managing a team of fifteen employees.
Marshall received his B.S. in economics and business administration from Vanderbilt University. He received an M.B.A. from the Massey School of Business at Belmont University. He concentrated his studies on finance while achieving his M.B.A., including classes on mutual fund analysis as well as stock and bond valuation. A member of the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society, he was voted most outstanding student by his peers.
Cort H. Bethmann, JD
Vice President/Trust Officer
Cort Bethmann is an attorney who serves as a Trust Officer at Independence Trust Company. In this role he works closely with clients to develop an understanding of the different aspects of their trust agreement. He educates clients on the intent of the trust and also partners with the client’s estate planning team. He works with clients along with their advisors and beneficiaries to navigate through the estate settlement process. Cort joined the team in 2012.
Prior to joining Independence Trust Company, Cort was a solo practitioner whose law practice focused on comprehensive estate planning. He drafted and modified wills, trusts, and ancillary documents and also assisted clients in the probate courts. A portion of his practice involved helping clients understand and implement conservatorship/guardianship for the elderly, disabled, and the incapacitated.
Cort received his J.D. from Texas A&M University School of Law in Fort Worth, TX. He earned a certificate in estate planning in additional to his J.D. for satisfying rigorous curricular requirements in estate planning. During his second year, Cort clerked in the Tarrant County Statutory Probate Court #2 for the Honorable Judge Pat Ferchill. He was a member and officer in the Moot Court Honor Society. Cort received his B.A. from the University of Tennessee in legal studies and also holds an A.A.S. from Pellissippi State Community College in paralegal studies. Cort is licensed to practice law in Tennessee and Texas. He is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association, the Williamson County Bar Association, the Estate Planning Counsel of Middle Tennessee, and Texas Bar Association.
Lynn Burns joined Independence Trust Company in 2014 and is currently serving as a Trust Officer. In this role she works closely with clients to develop an understanding of the different aspects of their trust agreement. She educates clients on the intent of the trust and also partners with the client’s estate planning team. She works with clients along with their advisors and beneficiaries to navigate through the estate settlement process. She is also engaged in many aspects of the administration of cemetery and funeral home trusts.
Prior to joining Independence Trust Company, Lynn was an external auditor for a top ten public accounting firm in the US, Crowe Horwath LLP. She audited both privately and publicly held banking institutions with an asset range from $90 million to $3 billion.
Lynn received her B.A. in accounting from Goshen College in 2012 and is currently sitting for the CPA exam.
Patricia M. Clifton
Patricia has served as an administrative assistant for Independence Trust since 2009. In this role she works closely with clients and is active in the day-to-day administration of a wide variety of trust and investment accounts.
Patricia has over fifteen years experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Independence Trust Company, she was with Morgan Keegan. During this time, Patricia held several different positions including manager of operations and registered sales assistant.
Lee Ann Hansen
Lee Ann joined Independence Trust Company in 2013 as Executive Liaison and has over twenty-five years of administrative and management experience working in various industries. In her role, Lee Ann performs administrative, accounting and human resource functions.
Prior to joining Independence Trust Company, Lee Ann worked as an Executive Assistant for a large property management firm in Nashville. In addition to providing executive level support she also provided corporate level support for more than 100 multifamily and commercial locations.
Lee Ann received her Bachelor of Science in Marketing along with a Human Resources Management Professional Certification from University of Phoenix. She transplanted from Central Florida in 2006 and currently resides in Middle Tennessee.
Vice President/Head of Operations
Jeff joined Independence Trust Company in 2006 and currently works in the Operations Department where he supports the investments and administration departments. Responsibilities include trade settlement, check writing, account maintenance, transaction posting, and special projects.
Prior to joining Independence Trust Company, Jeff was an Assistant Treasurer for Deutsche Bank in the Corporate Actions Department. In this role his responsibilities included auditing domestic and global corporate actions prior to completion for both notifications and processing for approximately 50 administrators.
Jeff received his BS in Recording Industry Management with a minor in Business Administration from Middle Tennessee State University and has been coaching youth sports in Franklin, TN since 2002.
Greer B. Redden
Greer Redden became president of Independence Trust Company in 2014. He joined Independence Trust in 2009 as a relationship manager overseeing the firm’s business development. In 2011 Greer became head of client services where he was responsible for both account administration and operations. In that role he oversaw all aspects of the client relationship while working directly with major clients.
Prior to joining Independence Trust Company, Greer's investment services career included serving as a vice president with U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management and a financial advisor with Citigroup Smith Barney. In these previous roles, Greer was responsible for advising his clients in the areas of investments, lending and estate planning.
Greer graduated with honors from Vanderbilt University with his B.S. in human and organizational development. After graduation, he served four years as an Infantry officer in the U.S. Army, departing as a captain in 2000. He received his MBA from Vanderbilt’s Owen Graduate School of Management in 2011.
